Our services
Comprehensive financial planning for individuals, families, and business owners.
Investment Management
Your portfolio should reflect where you are in life now, not where you were when you opened the account. We review your investments on an ongoing basis, watching for positions that have gotten expensive and for opportunities that are priced well and fit your comfort level. As your circumstances change, your investments change with them.
- Continually looking to reduce overvalued investments
- Continually looking for undervalued opportunities that fit your risk level, what we call the "fat pitch"
- Adjusting investments as your life circumstances change
- Periodic rebalancing to keep your portfolio within your risk level
- Rebalancing the portfolio at appropriate times
- Considering the potential tax impact of rebalancing
Retirement Planning
Retirement is less about how much you have saved and more about how you use it. We start by pinning down what you will actually need and what your plan produces at the age you want to stop working, then build a distribution plan that gives every asset a job and a place in line. The order you draw in manages taxes and risk.
- Estimating what your income needs will actually be
- Projecting income at your desired retirement age
- Planning the best use of the assets you already have
- Designating the purpose and order of use for each asset
- Tax efficient withdrawal strategies
- Distribution strategies built around your comfort with risk
- Comparison of Social Security
- Adding additional "stress tests" to see how the plan holds up
Charitable Gifting Strategies
Giving is more effective when it is planned. If charity is part of your life, there are structures that can let you give more, give at a better time, and coordinate your giving with your income and estate goals. We will walk through the options and how each one fits your overall plan.
- Donor advised funds
- Charitable remainder trusts
- Qualified charitable distributions of RMDs
- RMD gifting strategies
Life & Long-Term Care Insurance
Insurance tends to be something people buy once and never revisit. We look at the coverage you already own, whether it still fits your situation, and what a gap would actually mean for the people who depend on you. That includes an honest conversation about long term care, including whether insurance is the right answer for you at all.
- Verifying and calculating your life insurance need
- Reviewing and evaluating your current policies
- Reviewing different types of life insurance and determining the best fit
- Reviewing the pros and cons of long term care insurance
- Evaluating your ability to self insure
- Calculating your long term care insurance need
- Reviewing and evaluating any current long term care policies
Tax Efficient Coordination & Planning
Taxes are one of the largest costs of a lifetime of investing, and one of the most manageable. We run a 33 point review of how your investments and assets interact with your tax picture, then look for adjustments that could improve what you actually keep.
- A 33 point review of how your investments and assets affect your taxes
- Projecting future investments, assets, and retirement income
- Reviewing and recommending beneficial use of qualified investment plans
- After tax calculation of investment returns
- Tax and income impact on your retirement income
Osaic Wealth, Inc. and its representatives do not offer tax advice.
Education Saving
College costs keep climbing, and the earlier you start the less strain there is later. We put a real number on what school is likely to cost for your family, then map out how to get there.
- Estimating future college costs
- Projecting investment growth
- Discussing education savings options
Legacy Planning
A legacy is more than a balance. We help you get what you own lined up with what your documents actually say, so the transfer happens the way you intended and your family is not left guessing. We will also look at what the transfer could cost in taxes.
- Gifting to the next generation
- Estate tax projection
- Aligning your assets with your estate plan
- Potential tax impact on estate dependents
- Ensuring your estate plan is current
Future Asset & Income Projection
Before any plan comes a plain question: will what you have get you where you want to go? We project your growth, adjust for inflation, add in your future income sources, and calculate the number your plan actually depends on. Then we stress test it, because a plan that only works in good markets is not much of a plan.
- Estimating your future income needs
- Projecting investment growth adjusted for the impact of inflation
- Discovering and projecting your future income sources
- Calculating the additional contributions or assets needed
- Projecting income at your desired retirement age
- Calculating "the key number"
- Adding additional "stress tests"
- Monte Carlo simulation
Risk & Investment Evaluation
There is the risk you can tolerate on paper and the risk you can live with in a downturn. We start with the second one. Once we know your real comfort level, we look at what you are holding today and where it is out of step.
- Evaluating your "risk comfort level"
- Recommending an allocation to complement your risk
- Recommending adjustments to investments and assets to match the recommended allocation
- Projection and calculation of past returns
Frequently asked questions
Using a financial planner allows you to partner with a professional that can give clarity to an ever-changing financial world, and help you avoid the all too common pitfalls of failing to diversify adequately, investing without a plan, making emotional decisions, and failing to review your existing portfolio. At Jacob Young Financial, my team and I will bring your financial pieces together and create a personalized plan that anticipates your needs so that you can feel confident in your financial future.
We look at your current financial picture first; then we discuss your needs and goals; next we prepare a plan that fits the needs and goals we have outlined. Finally, we match investments to balance the plan that has been created. All of this is done while coordinating the other parts of your financial life (taxes, income plan, estate plan, etc.).
We serve many different types of clients, but our knowledge and investment strategies best serve individuals, families, and business owners with significant assets or who are currently in a high tax bracket.
We offer a detailed list of the services we provide in our new client packet. After your needs are determined, we will review these services to decide together which of them will best serve your needs.
Our initial consultation is free of charge. After that, we are paid in one of three ways: fee for advice (flat or hourly fee for advice), fee-based (a percentage of assets under management), or commission (compensation paid directly to us by the investments chosen). Our relationship may include only one of the above options or could potentially include all three, depending on the plan we create for you.
Jacob Young Financial is a very knowledgeable team of specialists. Chances are you will have the opportunity to work with each of us at some point in our partnership. Rest assured, that whomever you are working with, they will be the best for the task at hand.
